A team of chemists from Portugal and Spain, led by Carlos Lodeiro Espiño, has developed a paper bracelet with a chemical sensor to detect date rape drugs like GHB. This invention aims to reduce sexual assaults at festivals and clubs by allowing users to test their drinks quickly. The bracelet is lightweight, biodegradable, and can test multiple drinks over five days. While it won't eliminate sexual violence, it serves as a preventive measure.
