Ahmed al-Sharaa, the Syrian president, stated that US President Donald Trump supports the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Syria as a condition for a comprehensive security agreement between the two neighboring countries. After meeting Trump in Washington, Sharaa claimed that Trump would promote a solution as quickly as possible. Sharaa accused Israel of having expansionist ambitions rather than legitimate security concerns regarding its military presence in Syria.
