Albanian authorities prevented a ship suspected of carrying hazardous waste from docking at Tirana’s main port after a watchdog group alerted them. The Turkish-flagged ship, Moliva XA443A, was kept away from Durres port. The Basel Action Network reported that the ship's containers might contain 2,100 metric tonnes of waste from the steel industry. The shipment, initially destined for Thailand, was refused entry and made several stopovers before returning to Albania.
