Two fossilised whale skeletons, estimated to be around 10 million years old, were discovered on a beach in Portugal. The skeletons were found during excavation work after storms exposed fossils. A team of palaeontologists from various institutions conducted a complex excavation operation. The fossils are significant for understanding the evolution of whales and the marine environment of the Miocene era.
