Fred Ramsdell, an American researcher, was on a three-week hiking trip in Montana with his wife when he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. He was unaware of this for 12 hours due to his phone being in airplane mode. His wife, Laura O’Neill, informed him of the news after receiving numerous messages. The couple eventually spoke with Nobel Committee Secretary Thomas Perlmann, who noted it was unprecedented to not reach a new laureate. Ramsdell shares the award with Mary E. Brunkow and Shimon Sakaguchi for their research on peripheral immune tolerance. Teljes cikk (Telex.hu)
