Astronomers have observed a nearby star ejecting a powerful burst of charged material, known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), which could strip planets of their atmospheres. This observation, made using ESA's XMM-Newton and LOFAR telescopes, marks the first direct detection of a CME from a star other than the Sun. The study suggests that smaller stars may produce stronger space weather, impacting the habitability of nearby planets. The findings are significant for understanding stellar eruptions and their effects on planetary atmospheres. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
