Google expressed concerns to Australian lawmakers about the enforceability of a new law banning social media accounts for children under 16, effective December 10. The law aims to protect children from online risks but may lead to unintended consequences, according to Rachel Lord, Google's senior manager. She highlighted that without accounts, safety features on platforms like YouTube would be ineffective, potentially exposing children to harmful content. The law was initially passed in 2024, excluding YouTube, which was later included after recommendations from the internet regulator. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
