The fire, which began on New Year’s Day, was initially extinguished but reignited due to high winds. Rinderknecht was arrested in Florida and faces charges of malicious destruction by fire. Investigators found evidence linking him to the fire, including a lighter in his car. The blaze killed 12 people and destroyed over 6,000 homes.
