Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, visited Brussels to sign a strengthened partnership and cooperation agreement (EPCA) with the leaders of the European Council and European Commission. This agreement replaces the 1996 partnership agreement and aims to deepen relations with Central Asian countries. The new text reinforces political dialogue and solidifies cooperation in trade, investment, research, sustainable development, and intellectual property rights. Mirziyoyev also met with European business leaders to emphasize economic collaboration. Trade between the EU and Uzbekistan reached €4.8 billion last year, nearly doubling since 2020.
