Ranko Mimovic, a Serbian billionaire, has made an offer for the majority stake in NIS, backed by two billion euros in gold. He claims to have positive feedback from both Serbian and Russian parties, as well as the US Treasury's OFAC. The deadline for the transaction is May 22, following US sanctions on NIS due to Russian ownership. Although MOL was initially expected to acquire the stake, Mimovic's company, KFT Senator Treasury G.T.7 Dva, has doubled MOL's offer. Mimovic has communicated with OFAC and received positive responses, indicating a potential deal.
