A Belgian court has allowed former diplomat Etienne Davignon to stand trial for his involvement in the 1961 killing of Patrice Lumumba, Congo's first prime minister. Davignon, now 93, is the last surviving member of the accused Belgians. Lumumba was executed shortly after Congo's independence, and Belgium has since acknowledged its role in the events.
