Belgian prosecutors are seeking to trial 92-year-old former diplomat Etienne Davignon for his alleged involvement in the 1961 assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. Lumumba was killed with Belgium's tacit support, and his family has been pursuing justice since 2011. A hearing is set for January 2026 to determine if Davignon will be tried.
