The Belgian telecom regulator BIPT is investigating Telegram for compliance with EU regulations against terrorist content. In its annual report, BIPT noted 454 cross-border injunctions related to Telegram last year. The regulator plans to continue oversight in 2025 and designate hosting providers exposed to terrorist content. Telegram, based in the British Virgin Islands but with a legal representative in Brussels, faces potential penalties for non-compliance. The app has been banned in several countries due to disinformation and extremism, and its CEO Pavel Durov was detained in Paris over related allegations. BIPT is also monitoring Telegram's compliance with the Digital Services Act, receiving complaints primarily about the platform. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
