A new study found that speaking a second language does not affect neural synchrony between bilingual mothers and their children. Researchers analyzed interactions in both the mother's native language and English, concluding that neural synchrony remains intact regardless of the language used. The study involved fifteen mother-child pairs and highlighted that synchrony was stronger during interactive play. While switching languages does not disrupt this synchrony, broader research indicates that using a second language can influence communication styles, particularly in emotionally charged situations.
