The remains of St Francis of Assisi are on public display in Assisi to commemorate 800 years since his death, attracting around 400,000 visitors. This is only the second time his skeleton has been shown publicly. St Francis, born in Assisi in 1181/1182, is a revered Christian figure known for his devotion to the poor and the environment.
