A Portuguese-Brazilian study found that moderate calorie consumption enhances chemotherapy effectiveness for sarcomas. Conducted by RISE Health Research Unit and Federal University of Piauí, the study revealed that calorie restriction reduces tumor size and protects normal cells during treatment. It also indicated that reduced calorie intake can improve DNA repair in non-tumor tissues and positively affect lipid metabolism.
