German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Lithuania for the inauguration of a German brigade aimed at strengthening NATO's eastern flank amid Russian threats. The 45th Armoured Brigade, consisting of 4,800 troops, will be stationed in Vilnius and is expected to be fully operational by 2027.
