Daniel Ondruska, a representative of the initiative, argues that the practice of deactivating online components undermines consumer protection and cultural heritage. The video game industry, represented by Video Games Europe, defends the right to discontinue games when they are no longer commercially viable, while acknowledging the disappointment this may cause players.
