The European Commission has proposed using atomic power and natural gas to produce low-carbon fuels, expanding gas market regulations to include greener options like biomethane and hydrogen. A public consultation has been opened on draft criteria for these fuels, which must have a carbon footprint at least 70% smaller than fossil fuels. The proposal includes the use of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and emphasizes the role of low-carbon fuels in reducing emissions. Critics argue it may support fossil fuel demand. The Commission also announced financing for renewable hydrogen production. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
