Calin Georgescu, a former Romanian presidential candidate, has been charged with attempting to stage a coup following the annulment of the presidential election. Along with Horatiu Potra and 20 others, they are accused of plotting against Romania's constitutional order. Evidence includes a meeting at a horse farm and a police raid that uncovered weapons and cash. Prosecutors allege foreign intelligence links and Russian interference in the election. Georgescu's ally, George Simion, later ran in his place and faced off against Nicusor Dan in the rerun. Georgescu has not commented on the charges. Teljes cikk (bbc.com europe)
