Croatia's parliament approved a radioactive waste disposal facility at Čerkezovac, near the Bosnia and Herzegovina border, despite protests from local communities concerned about health risks. The facility will temporarily store waste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant and other sources for 40 years. Bosnia argues the project violates international agreements and poses dangers to 250,000 residents. Croatian authorities defend the site as safe, while environmental groups raise concerns about its proximity to the Una River and seismic activity. Croatia plans to start receiving waste from Slovenia in 2028. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
