The Czech government has approved a €1.4 billion purchase of 44 Leopard 2A8 battle tanks from Germany to modernize its army. Defence Minister Jana Černochová confirmed the deal, with tanks to be delivered between 2028 and 2031. The Czech Republic may also buy 14 additional tanks later. The country is also procuring 18 light armoured vehicles and has plans for other military investments, including F-35 fighter jets, as part of a strategy to enhance its defense capabilities following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
