Thessaloniki, known as the 'Paris of Northern Greece', has unveiled its first metro line after two decades of construction, aimed at alleviating severe traffic jams and air pollution. The modern, driverless metro system significantly reduces travel time for residents like Marina Argyrou, who can now reach the city center in just 15 minutes. The project, which cost over €3 billion, also uncovered 300,000 archaeological artefacts, turning some stations into underground museums. The metro is expected to drive economic growth and tourism.
