The EU and Ukraine's temporary trade agreement is set to expire on June 5, leading to dissatisfaction among EU member states regarding the European Commission's failure to negotiate a new deal. Agriculture ministers expressed frustration over the lack of a stable agreement, emphasizing the need for a long-term solution. The current trade is governed by Autonomous Trade Measures (ATMs), which cannot be renewed. Transitional arrangements have been prepared, but they are less definitive than the previous scheme. Ukraine's agriculture minister, Vitalii Koval, urged for swift action to establish a new free trade mechanism, highlighting the critical importance of agriculture to Ukraine's economy amidst ongoing conflict.
