EU energy ministers have agreed to ban all Russian energy imports by January 1, 2028, to reduce dependence on Russia. Pipeline gas deliveries to Hungary and Slovakia will be exempt due to their resistance. The law requires EU countries to create national plans to cease Russian energy imports by March 1, 2026.
