The European Parliament has approved a law to expedite the return of irregular migrants by establishing deportation centres outside the EU and increasing detention periods. The law aims to enhance the return rate of migrants without legal rights to stay in the EU and allows for deportations to third countries. The bill received support from 389 MEPs, with some concerns raised about its implications for human rights and cooperation with non-democratic regimes. The final version will be negotiated with EU member states. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
