In 2023, the EU's gross available energy fell by 4.1%, reaching a record low, largely due to efficiency policies and milder winters. While fossil fuels still account for 67% of energy, renewables have increased to 19.5%. Nordic countries lead in renewable energy, while Poland and the Czech Republic remain coal-dependent. The EU produces only 40% of its energy, with significant imports from Norway, the US, Algeria, Qatar, and Russia. Transportation is the largest energy consumer at 32%. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
