European aerospace companies Leonardo, Airbus, and Thales are merging their satellite businesses to form 'Project Bromo' to compete with rivals like Elon Musk's Starlink. The new company aims to combine satellite assets rather than having one partner buy from others. Starlink, which has launched thousands of satellites, is widely used in Europe, particularly in Ukraine. Other competitors include Eutelsat and the European Space Agency's HydRON project.
