Despite the EU's efforts to reduce reliance on Russian pipeline gas post-invasion of Ukraine, LNG shipments increased significantly. Yamal LNG, a key Russian exporter, generated substantial profits, enabling Russia to fund military supplies. Major European countries continue to import Russian LNG, but the EU plans to phase out these imports by 2027.
