The European Parliament’s Legal Affairs committee has requested to join the cross-parliamentary monitoring group on the AI Act, which aims to oversee its implementation. The group was initially meant to include only the IMCO and LIBE committees. The working group’s composition will be decided at the next IMCO meeting on 14 October, with Brando Benifei indicating it will be operational by mid-October. The AI Act, which regulates AI systems based on societal risk, entered into force in August, with general rules applying in a year and high-risk obligations in three years. Similar groups were established for the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act. The AI Act's implementation involves scrutiny of delegated acts and discussions with the European Commission and industry representatives. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
