The European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control has drafted an opinion suggesting that the Patriots for Europe (PfE) group should repay over €4 million of wrongly spent EU funds by the far-right Identity and Democracy (ID) group. The ID group, which included parties like France’s Rassemblement National and Italy’s The League, is under investigation for financial irregularities. The CONT committee believes that the PfE group, which includes former ID members, may be liable for these debts due to economic continuity.
