An Irish regulator is investigating Facebook for potential breaches of EU data protection rules following complaints from users in Germany, Norway, and Spain regarding the use of personal data for direct marketing. The complaints were prompted by an investigation from consumer group Ekō, which found that Meta continued processing user data despite objections. Under GDPR, users have the right to object to such data usage. Meta has faced significant fines for GDPR violations, including a record €1.2bn fine in 2023. The investigation coincides with Meta's leadership expressing resistance to EU regulations. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
