Cecilia Sala, an Italian journalist, has been detained in a Tehran prison for over a week. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed her arrest by Iranian police on December 19, but the reason for her detention remains unclear. The Italian ambassador in Tehran, Paola Amadei, visited Sala in her cell and stated that Italy is cooperating with Iranian authorities to clarify her legal situation. Sala traveled to Iran on December 12 with a valid journalist visa to conduct interviews and work on podcast episodes. She was supposed to return to Italy on December 20 but could not be reached by phone on that day. 'Il Foglio' demands her release, emphasizing that 'journalism is not a crime.' Teljes cikk (Telex.hu)
