Dubravka Đedović Handanović, the Serbian energy minister, announced that Gazprom Neft and Gazprom are ready to relinquish their controlling stake in NIS due to American sanctions threatening Serbia's fuel supply. NIS operates the only oil refinery in Serbia, and without new crude oil, it may only function until November 25. Handanović emphasized the urgency of finding a solution to avoid fuel shortages for citizens. The sanctions, effective from October 8, have already disrupted NIS's financial operations.
