A new study published in Nature Sustainability examines the role of fossil fuel companies in renewable energy deployment. It finds that only 20% of the largest oil and gas producers have renewable projects, contributing just 0.1% to primary energy extraction. In Europe, fossil fuel companies own 1.8% of renewable assets, with TotalEnergies leading at 1.5% of total energy production from renewables.
