A sacred drum, the Djidji Ayôkwé, looted by French forces in 1916, has been returned to Ivory Coast after over a century. The drum, a significant part of the Ebrié community's heritage, was welcomed home at Abidjan International Airport. This return is part of France's broader effort to repatriate African cultural artefacts, initiated in 2017. The drum is the first of 148 items Ivory Coast seeks to reclaim from France.
