A report reveals that a million illegally-registered cars in France are linked to a fraud scandal costing hundreds of millions in lost taxes. The issue stems from a 2017 government decision to privatize parts of the registration system, leading to widespread abuse by unscrupulous operators. The state auditor identified 30 types of fraud, including tax evasion and altering vehicle histories. The interior ministry is aware and is implementing measures to address the problem.
