The National Union of Journalists announced the death of French photojournalist Antoni Lallican, aged 37, due to a drone strike in Ukraine's Donbas region. The EFJ-IFJ condemned the act as a war crime and called for an investigation. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed condolences and praised Lallican's bravery. A Ukrainian journalist, Heorgiy Ivanchenko, was also injured in the attack. Lallican was known for his extensive coverage of the war in Ukraine and had won the 2024 Victor Hugo Prize for his work.
