Puźniki, a former village now overgrown by forest, was the site of a historic exhumation that aimed to heal wounds between Poland and Ukraine. A funeral for over forty victims was held, attended by officials and families, including the oldest witness, Maria Jarzycka-Wróblewska. The exhumations, which took place from April to May 2023, marked a significant step in addressing historical tensions, as Poland recognizes the events in Volhynia as genocide, while Ukraine disputes this. The efforts are seen as a way to restore memory and ease relations between the two nations. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
