German biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier died in a climbing accident in northern Pakistan after being struck by falling rocks while ascending Laila Peak. Her partner, Marina Eva, survived and attempted to rescue her but was unable to due to dangerous conditions. Dahlmeier's family requested that no one risk their life for her recovery. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed condolences, highlighting her achievements and role as a sports ambassador.
