Cikk tartalma röviden

Laura Codruța Kövesi, the European Chief Prosecutor, stated in an interview that Hungary could easily join the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO). The process involves Hungarian authorities sending a letter to the European Commission to express their intention to join. Hungary can decide when to join regarding its jurisdiction, with the possibility of retroactive membership. The EPPO investigates crimes involving EU funds, with a threshold of €10,000 for damages and €10 million for VAT and customs fraud. The cooperation with Hungarian authorities has been good in VAT fraud cases, but there have been politically sensitive issues where Hungary initiated its own investigations, hindering EPPO's actions. If Hungary joins, the EPPO would open an office in the country, independent of Hungarian and EU politics.
