Marcel Ciolacu, the Romanian Prime Minister from the Social Democratic Party (PSD), announced his resignation and the dissolution of the Bucharest government coalition after the coalition's presidential candidate, Crin Antonescu, failed to advance in the presidential election. Ciolacu stated that he would not publicly support either candidate in the second round and that PSD members could vote according to their conscience. Following his resignation, the leadership of PSD will also resign, and it is expected that Daniel David will temporarily take over as Prime Minister.
