European honey production rebounded to 280,000 tonnes in 2022 after a four-year decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bee diseases, pesticide use, and climate change. Major producers included Romania, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Greece, France, and Poland. The decline from 2018 to 2021 was attributed to these factors, while 2022 saw a recovery due to favorable weather conditions. Europe is a significant honey consumer, accounting for 20% of global consumption, with imports reaching 363,000 tonnes valued at over €1,240 million. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
