The EU's new Entry/Exit System (EES) will be introduced gradually starting 12 October, aimed at enhancing security and streamlining travel for non-EU citizens entering the Schengen Area. Concerns about potential long queues during initial registration have been raised. The system will replace manual passport checks with biometric registration at kiosks. EES will be fully operational by April 2026, and a new visa waiver system (ETIAS) will follow by the end of 2026. Teljes cikk (bbc.com europe)
