The Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the EU stated that Hungary's law on stricter measures against paedophilia infringes EU law. The European Commission initiated infringement proceedings against Hungary in 2021 regarding an anti-LGBT law, leading to a lawsuit in December 2022. The Advocate General recommended ruling against Hungary for violating EU obligations, particularly concerning fundamental rights and the internal market.
