The Mediterranean Sea, despite being only 1% of the world's waters, contains 7% of global microplastics. French scientists from the Exploration Bleue project are studying the impact of microplastic pollution, led by Alexandra Ter-Halle from CNRS. They collect and analyze microplastic samples to understand their chemical nature and effects on marine life and humans.
