The Ostrov Krym laboratory, founded by Krym Altynbekov in 1996, is a key archaeological conservation hub in Almaty, focusing on ordinary, fragile objects rather than gold artefacts. The lab is known for its meticulous restoration projects, including the reconstruction of the Golden Man and monumental wooden doors from the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Altynbekov, now in his seventies, remains actively involved, supported by his daughter Elina Altynbekova, who brings a fresh perspective to their work. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
