At least three Iranian footballers have been killed during protests that began on December 28, leading to criticism of FIFA for its silence. Mojtaba Torshiz and his wife were reportedly shot by security forces in Qaemshahr. Masoud Shojaei condemned FIFA's inaction, while Saeid Mahmoudizad Azari described the killings as genocide.
