Since 2015, around 4.5 million Syrians have fled to Europe due to civil war and humanitarian crises. The recent fall of Damascus to HTS rebels and Bashar al-Assad's departure to Moscow has left many Syrians, like Zahra Alhelamy and Bushra Alzoubi, grappling with uncertainty about their future and the status of asylum applications in Europe. Alhelamy, who fled at 11, now feels at home in Germany despite facing discrimination. Alzoubi, who sought asylum in France, reflects on the complicated process and the need for clarity from European nations regarding their stance on returning refugees.
