In 2025, the Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to economists Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt for their contributions to understanding innovation-driven economic growth. Mokyr received half the prize for identifying prerequisites for sustained growth through technological progress, while Aghion and Howitt jointly received the other half for their theory of sustained growth through creative destruction.
